My favourite artists are Katy Perry, Ellie Goulding and Nina Nesbitt. I think this is because their songs make the audience feel good however they do also have songs that have meaningful lyrics.
For each artist from above I have chosen my favourite songs of theirs and ones that I feel would be good for a music video.
Katy Perry
Katy Perry
Roar- This is a very powerful and upbeat song about women being strong after an incident in their life for example a break up. We could show how a girl has progressed and learned to believe in herself throughout a period of time. An idea i had was a girl auditioning for cheerleading at school and doesn't make the cut therefore she practices constantly and eventually gets in after her knock down. This would follow my target audience of teenagers and young adults.
TGIF- This song is very upbeat and makes the audience feel good as they want to dance and sing to it. The idea for this song would be a group of friends going to a beach to have a party. I think this setting would be good as parties on beach are usually prohibited. Therefore it shows the rebellious side of the characters which young adults can relate to and find enticing.
Ellie Goulding
- Anything could happen- This song is unique because of its unconventional sounds which I think would make an interesting music video. The lyrics of the song also will entice an audience as it tells of a couple who are fighting for each other and trying to make it work. The song has a magical edge to it which could make a very exciting and extraordinary music video. We could use magical colours and make ordinary settings like a forest become fantasy-like.
How long will I love you - This song is very slow and has soft tones. This could make a sad music video which will appeal to an audience's emotions as it is about an intense relationship. All young adults will be able to relate to. We could show a boy and a girl who are in love, going places together such as the funfair and the beach for a romantic stroll. We also could show tension between the relationship which is then resolved showing the strength of the relationship. As the lyrics say 'How long will i love you' the music video could show the couple talking of the future and having children and getting married.
Nina Nesbitt
- Nose rings and shoe strings- This song is very unique as it is very modern and particular about what the song is about. Nina Nesbitt sings about her boyfriend who is lost in his ways and describes him very accurately. The song is slow however has positive energy as she is hoping for her boyfriend to come to his senses. I think this could make a very interesting music video as we could have a very simple setting such as a bedroom with the main character singing and playing guitar. I think this would show a lot of emotion and entice a young audience as most can relate to a relationship where there has been misunderstandings.
