A risk assessment is vital in order to keep everyone in the group safe and secure.
It is important to consider all of the possible hazards before filming so that all participants are made fully aware of any risks that they may come into contact with during filming and how to deal with them if they do occur. It is important to keep everybody safe so that no harm comes to anyone involved.
By planning any risks that may occur in advance it will allow us to focus directly on the filming. This is because it should run smoothly as everyone involved is already aware of potential hazards. Therefore if they occur members will be able to deal with them successfully without disrupting the filming schedule.
Description of hazard
|
Prevention of hazard
|
Carrying camera and tripod on public
transport.
|
This is a hazard as cameras and
tripods are very expensive pieces of equipment. Therefore carrying them on
public transport can put them at risk of being damaged or even stolen. To
prevent this hazard we will make sure it is not clearly visible that we are
carrying expensive equipment by putting them in cases, as this will also
protect them from being damaged.
|
Fireworks/sparklers
|
There is a scene where we will
include fireworks and sparklers. To prevent others from being harmed and
affected by the use of fireworks and sparklers we are using a field location,
as it is an open space. To protect ourselves we will keep a safe distance
away from the fireworks when lit, and will also make sure that are securely
placed. When using the sparklers we will be wearing gloves, and have a bucket
of water nearby to put out the sparklers.
|
Lighter/smoking
|
The artists boyfriend will be
smoking in the music video, a potential fire hazard, therefore when putting
the cigarette out we will make sure that it is completely unlit and properly
disposed of. This aspect will also take place in the field location as it
limits passive smoking.
|
Weather
|
As weather is uncontrollable is can
affect our filming plans and therefore we have to be flexible according to
the weather. For example; if it rains the camera could get water damaged and
if it is extremely windy it could create a hazard with the fireworks and
sparklers. Therefore we will check the weather in advance so that our filming
is not affected.
|
Our positioning within London.
|
London is a huge, public place and
therefore we want to limit the affect our filming has on others. To overcome
this we will position ourselves so that we don’t obstruct the public with
their daily lives. This will also benefit our filming as we will not waste
time moving around according to the public.

The table that you have included above, demonstrates a proficient understanding of what a risk assessment is. Now you need to explain what the purpose it and whether you counted any more risks?
